Attempted Murder and Suicide.
For Press Association. AUCKLAND. Dec. 81. A man named Walt* Bnacewell shot an old man named JPmry Scanlon outside the Britomart Ho*' tel and then shot himself. The butlet entered Scanlon'x jaw and cum,, through his mouth. I n Bracewell s case the .bullet only made d superlicinl abrasion on the foreh#ad. Neither is Uunfevrously injured. ANOTHER ATTEMPTED SUICIDE AUCKLAND, Dec. 31. Lrank Noifhaniel Nicholls, a com> mercial traveller, made a deliberate attempt at suicide by jumping over the Queen-St. wharf to-day. Evidently regretting, he clung .to a pilo and was rescued and arrested. '
