New Zealand Band.

''SOME '"REVELATIONH."' Under the heading " A Sequel to the tour of the New Zealand Band," the London .Daily Chronicle of a recent date states Mr .). Henry lies is making some revelations regarding the visit to lingland last spring oi the ban t from Sew Zealand, which was conducted l>y Lieutenant Herd. It was understood that £3OOO had been raised in the colony as a guarantee iund. but when the thirty musicians landed at Plymouth there was uuiy .t-IoU ready for immediate sx;iui.sv.'. Their sufferings would have been great but for the fact that Mr lies provided them with board am! lodging lor three weeks. Unhappily, the members of the commitu-e of management were not on particularly friendljy terms with one another—a litate of affairs which nari>a!?f hampered him in managing the tour, and consequently it is t.j\ surprising that the visit wis a financial failure though an art'-itic suci-ss.'' On being interrogated by a News representative, Mr 1). Mclvinnon Bain, who accompanied the bai;d to England in the capacity of manager, states that the "revelations" Mr ties is supposed to he making have no foundation in fact- The trouble was "all entirely due to the lack of business-like discernment displayed by Mr lies in arranging the band's itinerary, concerts being arranged in the south, at the worst season of tine year instead of going north, when splendid business could have been done. Now that Mr lies has stated his case in the public press it is understood that the New Zealand members of the committee of management will reply through the same medium, and some interesting "revelations" are probable from this end.
