The Consul subsequently informed Mr Deakin that he could not undertake the responsibility of Stelling obeying the order to leave the Commonwealth. It was arranged to pay his passage to Germany.

HEAVY EXPORTS. Received 24, 1 a.m. SYDNEY, Dec. 23. Exports from Syklney 'during the week were exceptionally heavy, amaumtiing to £1,284,000, inchiding £913,000 worth of wool and £BS-. 000 in gold.
