The deceased gentleman arrived in' New Plymouth as an infant in the slj:> 'Amelia Thomson In 1841, and gre!S-oo mainhood in this district. On the outbreak of hostilities between the whites and tfne Maoris he joined the first mounted corps under Captain I?? v «a.ux. and on the disbandment of that corps he joined Captain Mace's mounted troops, serving uwdef tftaf until the company was disbanded ii}' lptSß. For. many years past Mr Johnson has lived at Tar at a, where his family reside. The deceased was a brother-in-law of Mr Harris Ford, of New Plymouth. He had reached the age of 08 years. CLAIiLKS THOMAS KELLY. It is with regred that we record the death of Mr Charles Kelly, only son of the Hon T. Kelly, M.L.C.', of Bell Block. The sad eveint occurred on Saturday afternoon, and though it was not unexpected came as a keen shock to the relatives.
