MORE FACTS AND FIGURES. LONDON, Dec. 15. Sir Christopher Furness, head of the well-known shipbuilding firm, speaking at West Hartlepool, denied that the shipping trade was decaying. JTtie Tyne, Hartlepool and Tees districts last year launched mora tonnage than the whole German Empire. Sir John Jenkins, at Swansea, declared the exports of galvanised sheets and tin plates had greatly increased. A correspondent of the Times quotes official statistics showing that German immigration in 18gl, a year after t-tyj protective tariff was adopted, was 4.86 per font, of the population. It fell rapidly till 1901 when it was 0.39 per cent.. He adds that England's emigration in 22 years aggregated 2,863,286 and Germany's 2,011,436.
