The wealth was the newly-acquired property of two speculators in Tattcryal's sweeps. An association has been formed in the South Island, with headquarters at Ohristchurrh, with the object of inducing racing clubs to license bookmakers. The Sout/hland Racing Club lias mffreod to issue licenses, charging Juo 5s for the right to bet inside antd £2 10s outside per day. An effort is being made now to bring the West Coast Clubs into line.
