Messrs OUoy and Rollo's Taraitakt Foundry was visited on Tuesday by a Daily News representative, and the full staff of some fifteen experienced engineers, mechanics, smiths, and founders was found busily employed. The various lathes, boring and other machinery, are drlvto by (V 6 h.p. Marshall steam engine, and arc capable of turning out a large amount of work. The moulding* department is in competent hands, and the smelting is done In a very powerful Cupola furnace. The firm is well known, Mr Okey having traded under the name "F. W. Okiw' l for some fifteen years, whilst llr Rollo, an engineer of large Scottish aav.l foreign experience, joined him some three years aigo. The visit to the works was most interesting, under Mr Okoy's guidance.

Messrs ClilT Dros.' new moulding and joinery works in G-ill Street ar« a a hive of industry just now, a full ' staff of men being at work on the different labour-saving appliances, which are driven by a 17 h.p. Vaiirgye gas engine. A four-sMed moukler and matcher, planing machines, boring machines, band-saw, turamg lathe and grinding machine make, the factory most complete, and able to turn out a large Quantity of work. The yand contains aboit 100,000 feet of timber of all and the linn has about twenty men at outside work, the Wggest cobtract at present being Mr .Jones' Ktables in King Street. The plumbing work is under Mr Setford's supervision. In the festive season everyone likes to make presents. Mr 11. Jetikinson, carriage builders, of Devon Strait, New Plymouth, insert an advertisement in this Issue. firm announce that they have on hand sixty finished vehicles of the latest designs, and a glance through the showroom reveals some very fine looking gigs, buggies, etc. The materials used are excellent, and the finish is remarkably good. There is a branch establishment at Waiter* where horse-shoeing is j n an experienced smith.
