MR NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY AUCTION REPORT. At the Haymarket on Saturday last small pigs made ,7a 6d to 15s ; calves, 3s to 8s 6d ; horses, £8 15s to £7 10s. At the Mart, fowls made lid to 2s 3d ; ducks, Is lid to 2s Id ; chicks, 6d to Is Id ; ducklings Is ; new 1 potatoes, Id to ljd ; sundries und furniture made low rates ; buildings in Devon-street, £l6. Cuttle. —At Lepperton on Friday, 13th inst., I held a clearing sale of Mr H. B. Lepper's well-known Jersey and other stock, when there was a good- ( attendance, and prices realised were on the whole vory satisfactory. Ordinary dairy cows made £5 10s to £9 5s ; grade Jerseys, £7 10s £l7 10s ; pure bred yearling bulls, to £l2 10s ; pure bred do., £l3 to £5 10s to £ll ; aged do., £6 10s to £lO ; pure bred yearling heifers, £9 15s ; well bred 15 months do., £6 7s 6d ; grade yearling do., £4 5s to £5 ; calves to yearlings, £3 8s to £3 15s; store pigs, 22s to 28s» breeding sow, £5 10s; Mr Holdcn's choice little daiiry, which was sold at the same time, mode excellent prices, the cows b>;ing a really good lot, und made from £6 5s to £l4 10. I also sold on account of Mr Wheatly a few nice pens of 12 to 18 months empty heifers at from £3 6s 6d to £4 Is ; also a 2 year draught gelding for £2O.
At Strdtford on Tuesday there was a good yarding of stock. Bidding was fairly brisk throughout, and the majority of the pens sold at the hammer. Yearlings made £2 10s to £2 14s ; 12 to 15 months steers, £3 5s to £3 8s ; 2 to 2$ year do., £4 6s te £4 7s 6d ; 15 to 18 months heifers, £3 9s 6d to £3 15s ; 18 months to 3 year do., £4 Is to £4 6s ; springing do., £4 15s to £5 10s; store cows, £3 10s to £4 5s ; fresh do., £4 15s to £5.
At Rahotu on Thursday there was a fair entry and attendance, nearly everything being sold at the hammer or privately at about vendors' reserves. Calves- made 355, mixed 12 to 15 months £3 3s to £3 9s 6d, 2 year steers £4 3s, empty heifers £3 lis to £4 7s 6d, stare cows £2 10s to £3 17s. STOCK REPORT. Messrs Vickers and Stevens report that the Ingle wood yards were full :of cattle on Wednesday. Yearlings made from £2 to £2 15s, 15 to 18 ! months £2 17s to £3 10s, empty heifers £3 5s to £4 3s, store cows £3 10s to £4 9s, springers £4 10s to £7 12s 6d, bulls £2 to £2 ss. Messrs Wyllie, Stott, and Co. report : We quote the following prices realised at our yards, .Urenui, Nov. 10 : 15 months heifers, £3 2a 6d to £3 56 ; 2 year steers, £4 lis to £5 8s ; store cows, £4 2s 6d to £4 5s ; springing heifers, £5 5s to £7 ;. cows in calf, £6 5s ; fat cows, £6 ; mixed sheep, 19s 6d. At Waitara yearlings made £2 14s 6d to £3 0s 6d ; store cows, £4 7s 6d to £4 14s ; heifer and calf £3 15s ; do. cow, £5 17s 6d ; fat cows, £5 10s, £5 7s 6d ; springing cows, £6 2s 6d to £7 10s ; springing heifers, £4 7s 6d to £5 7s 6t. NEW ZEALAND LOAN & MERCANTILE AGENCY COMPANY, LTD., WEEKLY MARKET REPORT. Horses.—Have been in steady demand, those of a good stamp being insufficient for requirements. Fully an average number was entered fot disposal at the Durham yards on Friday. Bidding fluctuated, but on the whole values were slightly in favour of the vendor. We quoto : ■ Heavy draughts, £24 10s to £3O ; ■ medium do., £l9 10s to £2B ; liirtit ! harness horses, £ll 10s lo £lB ; hacks, £3 10s to £l9. A sulky • wade £8 10s ; a spring cart,£l2. Cattle.—At the Newmarket Voids • on Tuesday dairy and store stock were yarded in full numbers. There • was an average muster of fat cattle, i the quality of which was good, although no heavy weights were yarded. Ox beef sold up to 255, and cow 18s to 23s per,loolt>; fat steers ' made from £6 10s to £9 ; store eows, £3 10s to £4 lis ; grown steers, £6 10s to £7 2s 6d.
Sheep.—The Newmarket yards vera well filled on Tuesday, and sheep of all descriptions showed Improved values, more especially those of lirst (juality. We quote :—Fat wethers (shorn) 15s 9d to 27s ; fat ewes, 12s 9d to 24s ; lambs, in full supply, sold well from 9s 9d to 17s 6.1. Pigs.—Well represented. Young pigs sold from 9s 6d to 17s ; stores 13s to 22s ; porkers, £1 18s tg £3 4s.
On Wednesday at Pukokohe, there was a very large muster, dairy cows being especially well represented. 142 were offered, and we quote :,—Dairy cows, £4 10s to £7 ; empty do., £8 to £4 14s ; heifers, £2 18s to £5 10s ; 3 to 4 year old steers, £6 2s 6d to £7los ; fat cows, £5 5s to £7 ; calves, £1 18s to £3 ; bulls, £5 5s to £9 30s.
We submitted a large catalogue of hides and skins on Tuesday, all linos being sold under keen competition. Hides.—We quote :—Prime ox, 7d to 7id ; extra »tout do., 6id to ">}d; stout do., s}d to (id ; medium do., 4|d to s|d ; light do., 4sd to 5Jd ; stags, 3d to 3{d ; cow, best lines, to 4Jd ; good, 4»d to 4|d ; kip, 3d to 3|d r calf skins 3d to 4Jd. Sheepskins.—Market firmer. We quote :—Best butchers' skins at 4s 3d to 5s 9d ; country do., 3s 9d 4s 2d ; other lines, 2s to 3s 6d ; lambs, 7d to Is 2d ; pelts, 7d to lid. Tallow.—Best lines 22s 6d, good 21s to 21s 9d, seconds 18s to 20s ; rough fat 1-Jd per Ih. Horsehair.—ls to Is 2d ; tails, Is 5d per fioz. Bones, £4 lis. Wool.—(In bags) Half-bred 6jd to 7Jd, crossbred 5Jd to 6{d, uieces 3d to 4d, locks 2Jd to 3d, lambs' wool, 4sd to s|d. Maize—Supplies very heavy, and market back to 2s 3d for fine samples on wharf. Polar qjuality selling at- low as Is lOd. Oats.—Market weaker at Is 8d til'. Chaff.—Demand very much reduced, and market easier. Local is worth £3 and Southern £1 10s per ton. Wheat.—Oversea ventures continue small, and accumulated stock has weakened value, best milling returning 3/l*> to 4/-, (J.W. feed offers freely at 3/3, discoloured 3/-, seconds 2/(>. Potatoes. —Sound old table are practically bare at £2 .">s s.i., new Kidneys being firm at 12/- b.i , round 7/- b.i. Maizo.—Northern growers are accepting 2/5 f.0.b., s.i.. to compete with Argentine landing at 2/11 c.i.f. s.i. Barley.—Operations are quiet in malting at 3/9, food 2/(5, pearl barley £l3 10s, b.i. Beans.—Field varieties are scarce, good crushers costing 3/4.
Teas.— Partridge have light rekfliest at 4/-, Blue Prussians f/-, split peas £l3 10s, b.i., pig-meal £$ los, s.i. Bran —Consumption is fair at £2 10s, s.i. Pollard.—Demand is -brisk at £3, s.i. Oatmeal. Lang-downs and Standard brands are stationary at £B, s.i. for 25's, lolled oats £l2, c.i.l'., s.i. Chaff. Supplies of bright oat-s-beat are not in excess, well cut selling readily at 57/0 s.s. Bark is plentiful at""so/- to 52/6 s.s., straw chaff 40/- s.s. Hay.—Pressed straw commands 35/-, rye-clover 57/6, all-clover DO/-. Grass Seed.—Dressed rye is worth 3/10 to 5/3, with more available cocksfoot 4d to sd, cowgrass 75/, « white clovor 95/-. Messrs Buckland and .Sons report as follows : Horses—Full yard and good demand ; medium draughts £26 to £32 10s, aged and worn £l6 to £2l, good hacks and harness £ls to £22, ordinary £7 10s 10 £l3 10s.
