An Infant Murdered.

AUCKLAND, Nov. 16. At the Supreme Court Ani Nguriho Mokura, a Maori woman, was charged with the murder of her infant child at Hok-ianga. When asked to plead she made no reply, but mu'de a rambling statement ns to the- child's religion. The Crown Prosecutor explained that the woman arrived at the Maori settlement with her child, and was asked to stay. She refused at first, but returned later without the child, which -was found dead in a swamp, ihe w oman s mind was evidently unhinged at the time. The jury returned a verdict of acquittal on the ground oi insanity, and the prisoner was discharged.
