TO CORRESPONDENTS.
Arcri E ujibug.—Your letter is altogether unfit for publication. We should be pleased indeed to see the provisions of the licensing Bill freely discussed, and to afford space for it, because we believe public discussions on such subjects does much good ; bub it laust be on the principles of the Bill, and not: on the motives actuating those for or -..'inst it. Tour attack on the Council of the Churches, and on the Methodist denomination is altogether uncalled for, and is quite beside the question. Enquirer.—The deepest water at the Queen's wharf, Wellington, is at the outer end. At one eud of the berth it is 29 feet, and at the other 31 feet, and 30 feet in the centre. The deepest water at the Railway Wharf is 26 feet, and at the new Glasgow Wharf 29 feet.
