There was a wild scene at a meeting of the Tradea and Labour Council last night while discussing a motion that each member of the Council must be an effective working member of the Union. This affected the status of a large number of members. There were seventy members present. The feeling was so high that the rival factions frequently appeared on the verge of resorting to violence. There wss a fierce struggle between the secretary and president for the possession of the minute book, which the secretary secured amid howls of execration and victory. Eventually the resolution was put, the result being 35 votes for and against. The president gave his casting vote in favour of the resolution, which he declared carried, amid uproar, ASHBURTON SHOW.
