CRICKET.
Per Press Association. Adelaide, November 5. George Giiieu was withdrawn from the local team to play the Englishmen owing to a difficulty over the expanses. The cricket match between t ho Hawtrey Company and a local team, got up by Mr J. H. Claske, will b?gin at 1.30 to-day on the Tubapa ground, not the Recreation Grounds, as we stated [yesterday. The following are the names of the local players F. H. Robertson, D. Frost, W. Pcrham, E. Whittle, J. It. Clarke, G. Braund, L. Frost-, E. Lish, A. Bewley, A. E. Jeaes and Burton. The following will represent the Hawtrey Comply Company : —W. F. Hawtrey, Frank Mwavove, S, Redgrave, 0. P. Heggif, G. W. Elton, J;. Monk, G. MacMahori, R. B. Young, W. O'Connor, J. G, Brandon, J. Phillips. Messrs Hadfield and Thomas will umpire. This is the third encounter which has taken place hare, the two previous matches being won by the Company. A very interesting match should eventuate. Touching on the visit of the English team, the well-known Sydney writer " Not Out" says:—" As showing how cricket opinion differs, there is a ft el-, ing here among cricketers that if the Englishmen exhibit their English form they will enter the field with chances of victory equal to those of the Australians. In England, with a few exception?, critics s em to regard their retaking " the ashes "as hopeless. It is an opiolon that is not held here."
