SAD DEATH.

A yery sad death occurred at the New Plymouth Hospital during the early hours of Tuesday morning, when Mr Ernest August Leech passed away at t'ta <ompimtivtly early »ge of 57 yearß, Mr Loecb hr.6 only been a few months in the colony, bringing two little sons with him. He was for many years a successful produce merchant in Hull, and having acquired a competency he came to the colony with the obj.ct and desire of settling down on apiece of land. Wi'h this object in view he socured 500 seres of land in the Koru district, when he became so unwell that hij had to go to the Hospital for treatment. There it was foucd that his heart was affected, and he was called away os stated above. What makes the case the more sad is the fact that his wife, with o'her five children, some <f whom are almost grown up, are on their way out from Home, and they are expected to land in the colony very shortly, and have yet to loam the sad news, Mi Loach was a most estimable man of German extraction, and, was a member of thp Qieen-street Primitive Methodist Church, the pastor of which (Rev. J. Nixoc) being with him to the last. Mr Nix mis also takitig care of the two little fatherless lads, who have rooms at the Xrocadero. The funeral of the deceased will teke place 10-day ( Wednesday) at 2 p.m.
