In reply to an application from the Hutroa Committee the Board decided to supply materhl for painting sheltersbel if the committee provided tho labour, The Health Officer reported the unsatisfactory state of the sanitary condition of Fitzroy school, owing to the raising of tha street level j and recommending that the school should bo raised at least two feat.—Referred to the Finance Committee. The Lincoln-road Oommittes wrote
relative to the state of the residence and fences.—They are to be informed (hiJ the Board will hold the teacher responsible for the stake of the residence nnd grounds, and that the, matter of further dealing with the residence be referred to the Finance Committee to rrport upon. The Secretary was instructed to hive the gorse cut on section 295, New Plymouth. Thi following resignations were accepted : —Miss D. The Oarrington-road Committee wrote expressing satisfaction with the teacher.-To be acknowledged, and a copy pent to Miss Sinclair with the Board's congratulations. An application for a residence at Rafcspiko was referred to the Finance Committee to report on at the next meeting of the Board, A dopy of a letter received from Mr Gieeeo, relative to the proceeds of a school cono?rt, is to be seut to the TJruti Committee. The action of the Awatuna and Huiakama Committees in closing their schools owing to epidemics was confirmed. In reply to his application, Mr T. H. Wing Keo's scholarship, payment of instructors of plumbing classes, refunds of school classes, were agreed to. / In reply to an application for the Board's consent to the closing of the Kiog-road, at the junction of the Up land-road, it was decided to l°ave the matter in the hands of the Chairman and Mr Morton with power to act. The Headmaster of the Stratford District High School wrote relative to the division of fees.—To be divided accorded to the Board's resolution. It was decided to allocate £5 towards the Reference Library Fund of the Stratford District High School. A letter was read from the Teachers Institute relative to various matters. —Deferral to the next meeting -a fi-py to bo sent to each member of the I Bonrd. o*ing to there not being a full meeting of the B >ard, the question of inspection of Catholic schools was deferred. In reply to a letter from Mr Martin Ford, applying for a school at Makahuroad, ha is to be informed that the Bjard has no funds and is waiting the approval of the Minister to the proposal. A letter from the Department, relative to a house allowance to the teacher at Midhirs', was referred to the Finance Committee. Consideration of a petition from settlors at Whingamomona, relative to removal of the present school to another site, and for a school to be erected in the township, was held over till nex f meeting. A report by the Reserves Committee, relative to the teacher's mi dence at Waitara, was referred to the Finance Committee with power to act. The Reserves Committee reported recommending consent to a transfer of section 8, block 5, Upper Waitara, from Hinlz Bros, to W. A. and R.
