The usual monthly Government Inspection Parade of the Guards took pk(.o last night (Tuesday ) There was an excellent mustor under Captain Cook and Lieutenant Messenger. Staff Sergeant-Major Sanderson was on parade and the corps was put j through some useful exercises and movements. # i The Garrison Bind also paraded in! full ' strength ui;der Bandmaster, Gordon, j A suggestion has been made that a Battalion competition should be held, each company putting in teams of tec men to compete in firing ten shots at at 300 and 500 yards, bayonet exercise and physical drill, The company getting the highest aggregate marks to be the winners. The Gazette, No 77, 1903, contains the following appointment:— Ciptain Leonard Mix well Taunton, Adjutant 4th Battaliou Wellington Rifle Volunteers, is appointed as an additional membi-r of ih>! Wellington Locil Board of Military Examinations as from September 3rd, 1903. This is a well deserved recognition of Captain Taunton's great services and abilities as a volunteer. After the Guards pirade last night a team woe picked to fire in a triangular rifle match between the Guards, Waitara Rifles, and Frankley r road team, to be held on the local range next Thursday afternoon, The next Easter Camp will probably be held at Pilmerston North, The resignation of Lieut. R, N. Hooker of the Taranaki Rifles, and his being posted to the retired list with the rank of lieutenant, and the resignation of Lieut. A. H. Holmes, Taranaki Guards, are gazetted,
