"Wellington, N.Z., October 27t&, 1902. Me Lane.—Dear Sir, ty I feel it tny duty to let you know what your Emulsion, and fresh air, has done for me. Twelve months aga list September I was so ill with my lungs that I had to go into the Wellington Hospital. I had been under th* care of five (5) different doctors, who said ray case was one of consumption. I was told that my only chance was to go either to the "Blue Mountains" or the hospital. After being in the hospital six (6) weeks I returned home somewhat relieved, but not cttred. I had , very Hasty, hacking, hollow cough, and was frequently spitting blood. Owing to the coughing being so bad at night, morphia tablets were ordered to euable me to sleep a little at night. My flash was gradually, but surely leaving my body, and I was getting weaker and weaker, and was tii»d all the time. In April of "this year (1902) I commenced taking L through reading your little book, which was put under the door. The doctor who Was attending me said I was doing right, and ad used me to continue with it. I think he said this just to piease me as much as anything. At this time my stomach was so weak, and my digestion so poor that I could hardly retain the Emulsion, but by persistent efforts it gradually strengthened my digestive organs, and after a while I had no difficulty in keeping it down.® It must have been a month or six (6) weeks before I could tell there was any improvement. In fact, I was beginning to lose hope of your Emulsion doing me good. Beading tie testimonials from time to time they induced me to continue. The testimonial of Trooper Orr, and his statement about how he regained his health through being persistent with the Emulsion gave me, fresh hope. I am now so thankful I was persistent. It k was about this time that an improvement began to be noticeable The coughing vras still very bad, ;ind the bleeding had not entirely stopped, but there was a kind of feeling that I was getting a little bet&r strength. This helped me on, and gave me fresh hope that I might still be well again. Bight up to now, seven months later, I have kept on taking the Emulsion. At first one bottle each week, then two, and as I got stronger the dose was increased. For the past two (2) months I have been taking three (3) bottles each week. lam now on my forty-fourth (44) bottle. It has been money well spent. Lane's Emulsion, fresh air and persistency have given me a new lease of life. <r> Last February my weight was 8 stone 6 pounds. By April I had decreased to 7 stone. Since then I have gradually increased and have now gained 10 pounds. Last February and March I was quite unable to walk but a few paces, the least exertion would tire me very much. Now—October—l can, and do, walk quite five (5) miles each fine day. The walk I usually take is from my house, round the Patent Slip, through Kilburnie, oil to Newtown, and home again. This walk is now no trouble tome. • Just previous to taking the Emulsion, my doctor said he could do no more for mc. Now I can siug my old songs as well as ever I did, showing my lungs are strong and sound. As further proof that my case was one of consumption, I was reported to the Health Officers who visited the house in which I was living, and they sent me a circular issued by the Government, giving instructions as to the care oi consumptives. " I am 4uite certain that my re"turn to health and strength is "solely due to LANE'S EMULSION " and fresh air." Very greatfully and thankfully yours. (Signed) NELLY NIGHTINGALE.
