CRUELTY TO ANIMALS.

PUB PRESS ASSOCIATION. Wellington, September 21. A deputation from Ohristcharch from the Council of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals waited on the Premier to-day and asked for a Government subsidy for carrying on ' tha work. The Premier, while expressing sympathy with the work earned out by such Societies, thought the local bodies should provide the funds and expressed an opinion that the police should do more to assist. Tin promised to place the matter before the Cabinet.
