I sales, B buyers, s sellers, p premium. The sharemarket is exceedingly dull, and little business passing. Insurance shares are neglected with a tendency to decline. DAIRY PRODUCE AND FROZEN MEAT REPORT. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have received the following message, dated London, 14th .August. Uo3: Butter.—We have now to report a more active demand in all our markets, and while prices do not as yet show much of an advance, there is a better undertone and a gradually strengthening tendency, and we anticipate higher prices in the near future, Owing to heavy weekly arrivals of Siberian and Russian our markets have for some time past been very much overloaded, and prices have been somewhat irregular. This week's prices:—Choicest Danish, 104s to lOGs; choicest Fricsland, AGs to 07s; choicest Canadian, !)5s to 06s; choicest Irish, 94s to 06s: Siberian, 88s to 90s; finest Siberian, 84s to 86s.
Cheese.—The demand has been extremely quiet and disappointing. The spot prices have shown nothing but losses to importers, but there is a feeling of firmness coming into the market at the present time, and an advance of Is 6d per cwt has taken place on the c.i,f. quotations within the last few days. This week's prices are:—Finest Home Cheddars 58s to 625, finest Home Dunlops 54s to 565, finest Canadians (coloured) 49s to 50s, finest Canadians (white) 48s to 495, finest New Zealands 52s to 545. Wellington, September 17. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received a cablegram from the Agent-General dated 16th, stating that the wool sales opened with good competition, and compared with closing rates at last sales values of merinos were unchanged, prices of fine cross-breds were fully maintained, medium croßsbreds were higher, and coarse crossbreds from id to Jd per lb higher.
