■ o Per Press Association, Ohbisighurch, September 17. With reference to the question asked by Mr Taylor in the House of K?presentatives this afternoon, Colonel Porter suspended Oap'.aio Fisher yesterday for writing a letter to the Press as to the patriotic funds, cdling in question the action of his Superiors. Uolonel Porter states the letttr is a breach of volunteer and the King's regulations. Ha also says Captain Fisher adopted a defiant attitude when remonstrattd with, and he had no option but to suspend him. Ax the School of Instruction, the practical examination in musketry was taken. In the evening a lecture'on various subjects was given. At the conclusion Lieut .-Colonel Owen infoimed the class that the written examination in discipline and duties, musketry, tactics, military engineering, and topography would be held on October Ist. The examination of the offijers and non-coms, will be held at tr eir headquarters. Colonel Owen addressed a few remarks thanking the class for their attendance and attention, which showed how the instruction impattej to the officers might bs brought home to the men. Major Qkey replied, on behalf of the clas', expressing the pleasure th,ey i}ad experienced in listening to the instruction so clearly and methodically impar'ed. The Maj u's remarks were received with Hi'p'uu-e hy the class, The foo; ball m» ch R rL»e v. Guar.la resulted in a win for the Rifles by 12 to nil. Class firing will be taken Thursday and Saturday hfternoons, commencing on the 19th. j Captain-Adjutant -Taunton is engaged in examining tha non-coms, of the various corps in thi district.
