MUSGROVE'S GRAND COMIC OPERA COMPANY.
The spproaohing visit of this company to New Plymouth is evidence of the great progress the town has made, : for a few years ago such a large and firetclaga combination of talent! would not have ventured to pay the town a visit, but would nuve proceeded to Wanganui. They opan here on Monday next with "Tbe Fortune-teller," wnicb is not cnly gorgeous in its wealth of mounting and dressing, but has the merit of containing music which, while being sparkling, is of a high order. In Auckland this opera met with enormous eucoes?, the music, singing, dancing and acting all eliciting tbe Highest praise, while the scenery is 'said to be exceptionally good, the whole piece being mounted on a lavish scile. I The S9ttiug being of a Hungarian character lends itself to display, of which due advantage is taken. The charm of the opera is its laughter-pro-voking powers, and in this respi.ct it aesais the puMi'! wi l hive a full bill, and to havo tuoh a itebideratum with an accompanying environment of all that is pleasing to the eye cannot fail do eecure a most enjoyable evening's entertainment to all who are fortunate enough to be present. The concluding night of the season is to bo taken up with an opera having a Spanish setting, arid "The S.'renale " is said to be as fascinating and eDjoyable 88 the opon - ing opera, so that there is no wonder that Musgrove's season here is bsing looked forward to with keen anticipa tion of delight, and that there will be a rush for seats at the box office, which opens to-day at tfye (Llonial Piano Company's depot.
