♦ MEETING OF BATBPAYKB3. A well-attended meeting of tbe ratepayers of the Elliob Road District was held in the Westown Hall on Thursday tvering. Mr OhoLvill Billings occupied the chair, The meeting was held to consider the advisability of raising money to metal the formed roads of the district. , After a general discussion, Mr W. D. Webster moved, and Mr H. Qkey seconded—"That the Eoad Board be , requested to take the necessary steps to raiss a loin of j£2500 under the Go- ' vernment Loats to Local Bodies Act to metal the roads undur the control of the Board." | Ihe motion was carried by a large , majority. . It was then proposed by Mr Monte- . fiore—" That the Board ba requested I to employ an engineer to get out es'i- . mates of the cost of the work and plans , and spec fjcations. This was seconded by Mr P, Watson , and carriid ucanimcusly. , A further resolution was carried, I that the Board be instiucted to con- . eider the taking over of the Sia-viesv , read. > The meeting closed at 9.45 p.m. . with a vote of thanks to the chair.
