Ferid Pasha goes to Macedonia to . inspect the Vilayets. j The Forte declares that the insurgents destroyed five villages in the t Kirkilissi district and massacred the inhabitants. Icsurgets captured the village of I Vasaliko and killed the garrison of 50 and about 100 of the inhabitants. r They afterwards burnt two Greek vilj lages. I There are 180,000 troops mobilised 3 in Macedonia, and 24 Asiatic regi- ] ments are awaiting orders to enter Macedonia. Tha Forte has instituted a criminal court at Monaatir, the bench consistj ing of four Turks, two Greeks, and one Albanian. Two captured insurgents and Sara!- < if, one of the ltadtra of the Macedonian Oomuiittee, have escaped to the mountains. j The withdrawal of the Russian fleet ! is partly attributed to the insurgents' ' interpretation that its presence indicated Russian sympathy. The withdrawal disheartened the Bulgarian jy Committees.
