TRIAL OF THE HUMBERTS.
FXB PBESS ASSOCIATION. Pabis, August 9. Crowds waited outside the Palace of Justice, and the Court was overflowing. Maitre Labori defended the Humberts. The charges include forgery, and obtaining money by false pretences. The existence of Crawford's brother is the crux of the entire case. During the President's resume, Madame Humbert constantly protested her neneety, and declared th%t she was the vic'im of usurers. Sbe promised to tell later where the Ora» fords were, and whtre three hundred million francs could be found. Throughout the trial Madame displayed tbe consummate skill of the sotress. She was threatening, arrogant, pathetic, arid satcistic by turns. The public were disappointed by her evasion of promised revelations.
