Yesterday a narrow escape from fire occurred in a house occupied by Mr McMahon. The bedclothes caught Are but were extinguished after ru'ning the bed and burning the wall paper. Last night, while the occupants were absent at a concert, a five-roomed house owned by Mr J. Melville was totally d s'royed by fiifl. The insurances were £175 on the building in the Norwich Union, piaco .£6O in the New Z aland omen, furniture .£125 in the National
