ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Per Press Association. Noumea, July 20. A fearful explosion occurred in the tattiest part ot the oily yesterday, and hundreds of people assembled on hearing a t-rrible report. A tinsmith was putting a tap in an iron alcohol drum without removing the bung. The drum exploded, decapitating the tinsmith, whose head WM blown several feet away. The chief engineer of the steamer France was watching the operations with his eight year old son, who was blown several feet. The former bad half his face and one eye blown out, and the latter was badly injured. It is feared that both are fatally damaged, Woodville, Jul" 31. At a football match, Woodville versus Tdhoraite, played here, William Eccles had his collarbone fractured and Burnell had a rib broken.
