Mr. Kingston, however, has declined to entertain any' such proposal, on the ground that no) compromise is possibU on the principle for which he resigned, Brisbane, July 29. The Government have received a cable that the three-quarter of a million loan was issued at 96, but was not subscribed for fully. The underwriters take 70 per cent. Advice has also been received that owing to the extreme tightness in the London market it will ba impossible for { any other Stata to successfully approach ■ the market, j
