The Marylebone Cricket Club has published ths following cffici«l statement: "Mr Warner was selected «a captain of the team from tbe firet and that appointment has in no way since been qualified. The Selection Committee offered amateurs all expenses, and professionals all expenses, including washing, £3OO and a bonus if the tour proved a ficancial success, tLe Club not wishing to make any profit out cf the tour." They state that the following accepted this c ffer: —Werner, Foster, Bosanquct, Hits% Khodep, Hay ward, and Strudwick, and they are awaiting replies from Fry, Arnold, Braund, Liiley, Fielder, Relf, and Tyldesley. The following declined: Jackson, MacLaren, Jessop, Martyo, L. Palairet, and Dowson. ■ It is also stated that it will be impossible for the team to start btfore the 25th September. The Daily Mail considers it a weak team, and describee it as a Marylebiue Oluh and ground one, not an " England team."
The Fportsman declares" that without Jacison, Jeesrtp, and MacLiren, the team wi 1 hardly be representative. London, July 24. Nottingham playing against Gloucestershire scored 593, A. O. Jones contributing 296.
