SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.

Thi Commissioners met on Friday, July 12. Preseit: Messrs Wade, Faull, and AlUworth. In the absence of the chairman Mr Wade presided. The confirmation of the special resolution rehting to Mr P. B. Brooking'* lease was held over till nest meeting. A motion passed in February 20ih last in respect to the rents due by Messrs T. M. Smith and R. Kirkpatlick, of Stratford, was rescinded. The solicitor was instructed to tafto counsel's opinion ss to the liability of the Stratford Borough Oouccil to tbis Board and its tenants in resp-ct to the water nuisance on the E*k-road. Mr Cock here arrived and took the chair, The-execution of the following documents were confirmed:—-Surrender of 0. Carter cf leases of p.bout 9 acres 0 roods 19 perches, sections 1123, etc., and part W, N.P.; and of 4 acres 3 roods 16 perches, more or less, sections 1216, etc., and part W, N.P,; 1 ase lot; A, 2acrcs 1 rood 16 perchts, to 0. Garter, 21 years from October let, 1900, at 30.*; lot B, 2 acres, G. H. Garter, 21 years from sime date, at 20s; lot C, 3 acres, 0. Garter, 21 years, from sime date, at 20j ; lot D, 1 acre, to 0. Carter, for 21 years, from April Ist, 1903, at 30); also lots E, F, G, H, and I, to C. Carter at specified terms and rentals. Should the Board obtain a freehold title to part section 1083, N.P., a le*ee will ba granted C. Carter as if it Was part of lo; H. . A fojjmal reso'u'im was passed in nspect of the revaluation by arbitra- ' tion of the valuo of the improvements on section 1, block 13, Huirca, hild by A. and W. Brown, and for carrying the award into enec*, and the granting of a new lease. A surrender was accepted from B. E. Hcßie of his lease of section 4, block 12, Opiku, from March Ist, 1903. It was decided that a sum of £ 13 be expended to purchase a school pite for Baapuka rf 1 acre 3 roods 17 perches, part of Toko B, block 8, Ngaire. The site, at the corner of the Railway Reserve and Maogaebu Roid was transferred to the Board by Mr Alfred Bayly. The Board deeded that after hearing Mr W. Courtney and bis solicitor, Mr Kerr, the action taken about reentering en sees 384, 385, 410, and 411, N.P, be not confirmed, and tint the time for erecting a building be extended to July Ist, 1904, provided that no farther steps bo taken to build on the land -until January Ist nex* in view of the probability of the hnd being meanwhiU converted into pirtof a public p&ik. The secretary reported thit A. Honey had become bankrupt, and that the D.O.A. disclaimed the lease of sections held by him at Patea. It was decided to free the lease and let the land temporarily. The chairman was granted an extension till next m-eting to report on the matter of ervbion by tbe Waiwaknho river, and what stops had been taken. Mr W. Webber was refused permission to remove gravel off Reserve R, held under lease by him. The Board decided that they would be pleiEed to accept a surrender of the lease, and would not demand any further rent for the hud until otherwise decided The treasurer reported a balance of £783 4s lid. Transfers granted on usual terms: — E. M. Chambers to W. J. Lile, sec 125, Tarurutangi district; W. Andrews to O. A. Antford, sec 11, block 6, Egmont. The Chairman reported he hid consented to three mortgages.—Confirmed. Another mortgage was also granted. H. W. Horner was given leave to transfer to W. E. Holland, his subleise of put sec 21, block 8, Kaupokonui (A.J. Malone leasee). Accounts, £29 19s 41, were passed for payment.
