THE PORT OF MOKAU. Thk member for Egmont is earning golden opinions for his activity in looking after the interests of his electorate. A wire from Wellington informs us Chat Mr Jennings (M.H.R.), with Mr J. Kattenbury interviewed the Minister ef Public Works in connection with matters affecting the Mokau River and District, Mr Hall-Jou.s promised to jut £2OO on the estimates for wharf improvements at Mokau. It was pointed out to the Minister that serious delays occurred to people crossing over by pant, and the member suggested .prior to a bridge being built tbe Minister should provide an oil or steam winch for the punt. The Minister thought it could be done, and he would look into the mattor. Other matters touched upon were the formation of a Biver Trust Board for the Mokau River, and the formation of a new County in the King Country.
