PEB PRESS ASSOCIATION. Wellington, July 7. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the Agent-General, dated London July 6th: Mutton—The market is steady at last week's quotations. Lamb-Tho market is firm. The average price today for Canterbury brand is J, brands other than Canterbury sifl. Beet—The market is depressed. The average price to-day is : Hindquarters 4£d, fores 2|i. Butter—No alteration. Cheeso—Tho market is dull, Hemp—The market is quiet, with a decline in price. Good fair Wellington on spot is quoted, at £32; JulyAugust shipments £3O. Manila hemp fair current grade is quoted at £33. The stocks of New Zealand hemp on hand to-day are 652 tone, against 267 tons at this date last year. Cocksfoot—The market; is steady, pending advices about the American crop. Th 9 price to-day for bright, clean, New Zealand cocksfoot, weighing 171bs a bushel, is 463 per owt.
