MR. NEWTON JHNG'S WEEKLT AUCTION' REPORT. Ma Newton Kisa reports : C'ttle.—At Toko, on Monday, 1 held a clearing Bale on account of Messrs Bye Bros. There was a good attendance, and everything sold at satisfactory prices. Cows, early calvers, male L 6 10s to L 9 2s 6d, late do. 14 5s to L 6, store, cows L2 15s to L 3 2s •id, heifers in calf L 4 6s, trap horses L 23 to lL'27 10s. Implements and furniture and sundries made good prices. At WVwa'iaiho, on Tuesday, cattle came forward in advertised numbers. There was a Urge attendance, and young cattle, of which comparatively few were yarded, met with more inquiry, and were nearly all sold 1 at the hammer. No big steers came forwatd, and store cows and dairy stock sold at late values. Calves madj 18s to Ll 10s, calves to yearlings Ll lis 6d tc L2 6s, heifers in calf made L 3 is to L 3 12s 6d, springers L 5 to 16, store cows L'2 5s to L 3 16s, forward do. On Wednesday I held a clearing sa!e at Stoat ford on account of Mr Cha'les Coley, when there was a good attendance and. everything told well; Dairy cows made from L 5 lOs to Ul 15s, store do. L 3 to L 4, heifers in calf L 3 17s 6d to L 4, 20-months to 2-year steers L 3 10a, heifers L 3 9s, calves Ll 18s.
VIOKKRS k STEVEN'S AUCTION REPORT. Messrs Vickebs and Stevens report that there was a fair entry of cattle in their IngJewood yards on Wednesday last. The following prices were obtained:—Calves Ll Is to Ll lis, yearlings L2 to L2 10s, 15 to 18-months mixed L2 15s to L2l9s 6d, spring cows L 3 13s to L 4 ITs 6d, store cows L 3 to L 3 17s 6d, springers L 4 2s 6d to L 6 17s 6d, f.m. ewes 6s s i. T sales, b buyers, s sellers, p premium. Dating the past week businesj has improved in the sharcmarket. National Bank have been in demaid at £4 12j 6d. and Bank of New Zealand have made a considerable rise. We hiva buye's at L 4 ?s, a rise of 8' in the week, and is fully warranted by the Bank's prospects. Insurance shares also are in better demand, the fundamental difficult ies of national fire insurance being, we believe, insurmountable. The dredging market has been quiet, a rise in the Molyneux having materially affected returns Tbe river has again fallen. Continuous mild and wet weather has also oaus=d a Meat deal of flood in the Buller and West Coist rivers. Local shares remain without changes.
SYDNEY SHEEP SALES. FEB PBESS ASSOCIATION. Sydney, July 9. The stud sheep sales have concluded. To-day was devoted to long-wools, including the following New Zealand lots : —Shropshires, G W. Burnett, Waikato, 70 rams, 1 to 2 guineas ; T. Ooates, 51 rams, 2 j to 3 guineas ; George Ballard, 1 ram, guineas ; 29 rams, 1| to guineas; 70 ewes, 3 guineas. Romney Marshes, G. N. Nix, Wairarapa, 199 rams, 1-J to 2 guineas. Leicestera, R. Little, Christchurch, 99 rams, 2 to 1£ guineas.

DUNEDIN GRAIN MARKET. Dunebin, July 8. Wheat—The demand is very slack for all sorts of milling, and sales are difficult to make at quotations. Fowl wheat is offering in large quantities at slightly reduced rates. Prime milling 4s to 4s 2d ; medium 3s 4d to 3s 9d, whole foowl wheat 3s to 3s 2d ; damaged 2s 6d to 2s lOd, sacks extra. Oats—J here is a fair enquiry for prime milling and teed lines, but for feed the demand is limited »nd sales of hirj/e lines cannot be effected. At Remuera beef was in moderate sup ply and prices advanced. Steers 25s to 28s per hundred, cows 20s to 25a, Sheep were m average supply and sJd freely. Wethers up to 20s, ewes to 16s 6d, liahter sorte, mixed, lis to 14s, hoggets 9s to 12s oil. Pigs were scarce. Baconers sold up co 27s 6d, porkers 28s to 40s.
