At the Farmers' Union Conference, h long discussion took place in regard to preferential trade, at the conclusion of which it was resolved: "That this Conference, representing about 20,000 New Zealand farmers, assures Mr Chamberlain of its sympathy with his endeavour to establish preferential trade within the Empire, and that this Conference urges upon the N.Z, Government the ad risibility of amending its customs tariff in the direction of glutting preference to British goods.
