Both nations had motives and interests drawing them together and such accord would prove usiful and profitable to themselves and help the progress of ci' i isation and the welfare of humanity. The King t reeted President Loubet with the greatrs'i cordiality upon his arrival at Victoria Station, where the Piince cf Wales, the Dukes of Cambridge and Argyle and wife, Lord Roberts, Mr Balfour, and Lord Lansdowne were also present. The National Anthem and Marseillaise wera played. The King and President Loubet drove from the station to York House. Piccadilly and St. Jamss'-street were lavishly decorated, many French emblems being in evidence. Immense crowds along the route ovationed President l.oubet.
