On 3lst March tha total amount of overdue purchase money and interest wfs £3162 only, and of this £2603 was paid within a few days. At this time thore were no arrears nor bad or doubtful debts, nor have stiingent measures had to bs tiken to compel piyment. There had not bsea a single case of failure to carry out purchases and the demand was fast in* creasing for land in ths distriots when the main portion of the Board's properties lie% and realisations htve been and continue at values which are largely reducing the estimated deficiency
