Tbe Native Appe>l Court is still sitting at New Plymouth, the cifes so far dealt with being lands at Rahotu and Urenui, judgments in which have been reserved, (hber casrs are also before the Court in connection with successors appointed to the interests of deceased beneficiaries in West Coast settlement reserves, attemp'B b--ing mida to hive adopted childien (or as known to natives " Tanwiti Whangai") of deceased natives placed as successors when no direct issue bc-s been left, as this is looked upon as an evasion of the i estiictions contained in the maj>rity of the grants in tbis district, which foes not allow interests to pass by will r to be disposer! of in any way, it is proposed tbat a case shall be s at>>d for ohe ruling of the Supreme Court for guidance. The appeal of the Public Trustee in : the Bio A, as to whether a European can succeed to in terests of natives in these Wes* Oaab; [ settlement reserves, his been adjeurned 1 for argument to a sitting of the -Api peltate Court at Wellington, for tbe i convenience of the solicitors engaged.
