The Svjet newspaper announces it: has received a communication from a' Japinese newspaperstatingtbat Britain and Japan have presented an official note to tbe Chinese Government declaring that China must demand the immediate evacuation of Manchuria by Kussia; also that any Russo-Ohinese treaty with regard to the civil administration of Manchuria must be subject to tbe approval of Britain and Japan, and that they must previously be advised of such a treaty. A reply was demanded within five days. The Svjet says that the note of tbe two Powers p'aces Ru'sia under the oecessity oi preparing for eventualities, ind adds " it is not by such a manner j or means that Russia will be con-j strained to evacuate Manchuria." j Prince Ching, Imptml Viceroy, is asserted to have counselled the Dowager Empress to accept the terms of the United States, Tbe Government, it is added, will support Britain and Japan in their demand.
