A general servant or lady's help is wanted, apply to Victoria House. During the examination of Henry Williamson bv Mr Spence, there were several passages of arms between Counsel and the Bench. Mr Stanford took exception to the same question being asked bo often, and said they had got some things down at least four times, and it was wasting the time of the Court Mr Spence resentad very strongly being interfered with, as he had an object. At one time he threatened to throw up the case, and leave the responsibility to the Benoh. The S.M. said if Mr Spence iosisted on asking the same question so often, he should tell the witness not to answer; anyway, he could not have it taken down. During one of several spars between Mr Spence, of Stratford, and Mr Anderson, of Malone, McVeagh and Anderaon, ! an exceedinglygentlemanly young lawyer, also from S'.raiford, Mr Spence said Mr Anderson's interruptions were intolerable, one could stand a good deal from a "young man," but there was a limit. The b M interposed that it was very wrong to interrupt, Mr Anderson smiled a smile that was very significant. Mr J, Strauchon Greig. J P., of Stratford, was in New Plymouth yesterday. He will pay a visit to the Old Country shortly to look after some property that ihas fallen to him. It represents a respectable sum, and Mr Greig is to be congratulated on his windfall.
The Poultry Show promises to be a big success. Generally more attention to the raising of poultry is being made all over the colony, and the excellent market in South Africa ensures a ready sale for any suitable fowl. There are few districts so suitable as New Plymouth for raising poultry. We notice Mr 0. W. Govett is strongly advocating the use of incubators, and the advice is good. The general use of incubators would not only largely increase the numbers, but result in a much more healthy fowl being raised, We are pleased to see the exhibit of inoubators will be a strong feature of the show. The secretary is leaving no stone unturned to secure a record success. News from Noumea states that H M.S. A'cher returned from the New Hebrides with the crew suffering from fever. Three bluejackets were landed, and sent to the hospital in a critical condition. The Lyttejton Harbour Board has decided to oppose th@ proposal to grant honorariums to Chairmen of Harbour Boards.
