We were told by a passenger that two heavily laden trucks bolted from the Elthain railway yard during shunting operations, and the engine had to chase them beyond Normanby before overtak | iiig them. Tha New Plymouth Parliamentary' Union held a very successful maeting onj Tuesday evening, the Speaker(Kev. Brad- j bury) presiding. There was an excellent attendance. A number of questions and motions were disposed of, after which the j "State Fue Insurance" and "Technical Education " Bills were read a first time. The second reading of the " .Native Lands' Rating Bill" provoked an animated dis-1 cussion, but it was carried by 19 to 11. The Bi.l had reached Clause 2 in Committee stage when adjourn time came around. A motion to meet weekly is to be discussed at next meeting. Ihe first order for the day on Tuesday fortnight will ba "State Fire Insurance Bill." Mr Joseph I'.
