Eu3fell gave notice of taolion that a committee be appointed to consider the advisablenss of establishing a conservatorium of music in connection with ths College, with power to take evidence of musical experts and communicate with other murical institutions. It was resolved that (he registrar communicate with tbe governing authorities of Dcnedia and Nelson I High Schools and enquire what has I been their experience of the iniroduction of the Government schim) of free places into secondary schools under their control. An opinion was expressed ihat the Government capitation of £6 was not insufficient (?) to maintain the s andard of the high schools, and that a test distinct from the sixth standard shou'd bi adopted.
