"ARE YOU A MASON?"
THEATRE ROYAL—TO-NIGH T. The all important question which has been agitating the minds of theatregoers for the pist week or so, is to be dealt with ac the Theatre R-tyal this evening, when a " Special Lodge Meeting" i< to be held, the offi jiatirg Qiand Mas'.isr b.ing Mr Qeorga Qidd)is, and thi other office bearers the members of Mr, J. O. Williamson's nsw Oom-dy Oompany. A twofold inducement ii h-Id out to pa'rons inisnauch as they are to be afforded the opportunity not only of witnessing the firot production in New Zealand of a certain play, bu 1 ; the presentation of it by a company, nine-tenths of whom re miking their firs'; appiarance in this country. In other words, they vi ill s?e the production of" Are You a Mason ?" by Mr J, O. Williamson's new comedy compjny. So far as the piece ita-lf is concerned, its claim to popularity is b sad on its power to corapal the heart if st of laughter. Judging from the long run which "Are You a Mison ?" had on its original production in London, and again, but quite recently, ia Sydney, there seems to be no doubt that it fills all requirements in this respect. The plot is concerned with the guileful assump'icn on the pirt of two husbands, of membership in Fretmisonry, in order that thty may account to their wives for thnr frequent nightly absenors from homo on alleged business connected with their r<spective "lodges." Both have chancad unknowingly to one another —to hit on the same device, and much of the humour of th 9 pieoa is caused by the efforts of each not to betray his secret to the o'her, The piece is sure to be handsomely mounted, whilst the exquisite costuinfs worn by the laiiaa are made from the litest up-to-date designs. To-morrow (Tuesday) night, ano'her soresmingly funny conudy, entitled "Oh! What a night I" is to be presented, with Mr George Uiddens in the part of " Mr Pinglet," which he created, and plajed for two yaais in the j original London production.
