AN OVERCROWDED ASYLUM.
FEB MUSS ASSOOIAtIO*. WBLLIKOioN, JdneW. Mr Ell, M.Q.R. for Obristohurob, paid a surprise viiit to the Mount View Asylum yisteday acd found the pltoe overcrowded. In the female w*rd there were 113 pitient*, and the statutory accommodation is for only 90. In the male ward there were 189 patients, and tbe otitutory accommodation la for 141. Mr El thinks that immtdiato stepi should be taken to relieve the pressure and ha has interviewed tbe Hon. Ual!-Jjn s on the question ef providing ipacLl accommodation for new arrivals at the asylum. Tbe Minister raid be intended to have erected at eich asylum a separate ward for the tie»t ment of fresh arrivals. '
