"ARE YOU A MASON?"
Not even with any of Mr Williamson's previous attractions', great as they were, was so much interest displayed, as in th' 3 appearance of his new Comedy Company on Monday and Tuesday evening next. Tho nason for this is e eily accounts! for. The present company is one composed almost «xIdiisively of Englith and Ame icm Jartista of ve-y huh r pu'ation in their 'own countries, who are appearing in Australia f)r th9fir.it time, and who, tin the only two cite a in which tbey J have yet played—Sydney and Auckland -havd sc:rfd the most underiable
successes. Furthermore, for the first time in the history of New Piymoutn at any rate, will be seen the "star" appearing on consecutive nights in characters which he e:«atei and played with enormous mccess in the original London productions. We refer to Mr George Giddens, the celebrated English comedian, who on Monday night will oppear as " Amos Bloodgooi " in " Are You a Mcsin ?" and on Tuesday n''ght as "Mr Pinglet" in "Oh! What a Night 1" both of wbich he was the firs* to p'ay in London, where the two comedies had an aggregate run of three years. Finelly, so ranch has been heard of the mir h provoking qualities of these piece?, and the press notioes in both the above-mentioned cities have been so uoif >rmly and distinctly complimentary, that an altogether exceptional treat in the way of indulgment of hearty laughter is expeoted— and who doas not e: joy a really good hearty laugh. Speaking of Mr Giddens' work in " Are you a Mason ?" the Auckland Herald writes: -" As Amos Bloodgcod, Mr Geo. Giddens, the English
comedian, is inimitable. He gives a etrikiogly humorous conception of a put repl te with comedy eflvc's. In facial exprrssion, ge3ture, business, aad byplay he is tbe ezaot exponent of the merry old deceiver, and rears of kugh fcr greet his sayings and doings throughout the evetiiug. His is the flushed performanc3 of the born artist, down *o ibtle details—to think of which afterwards is to smile, and then tj laugh outright. Mr Giddecs' advant itt welcome, inasmuch as hilarity fallows in his w«k-% and laughter flows at his com ma i d " of tbe dress circla end rese v d s'alls shou'd, if they have not already done so, secure their seats at onca at the Colonul Fitno Depot,
