Battler, and a well-known cricketer and Druid, left Nelson by the 4.30 train. He got off at Spring Grove to talk to his betrothed. He Was too long on the Station and tha train moved c ff; he attempted to jump aboard but fell under the platform, and several carriages and a brake van went over him, mutilating both legs.
