PRESENTATION TO SIR WILLIAM RUSSELL.
PEB PBKSB ASSOCIATION. Napiek, June 23. Sir William llussell was this afternoon the guest of a la<gu number of his constituents at a complimentary tea held in the Princees' Theatre, Hastings, about 400 people bting present. He was presented with an illuminated ad dress and alaigeand very haadsome solid silver eptrgne, tha design of which is appropriate to the colony. There are three bawl*, each one being removable. Oa the chiif bowl are three panels, on one of which is a represeuta'ion of the Government building*, on tha second is a design typiul of New Zealand sceniiy, and on the t'.irJ uscene representative of New Zealand farm and station life. The cln«iijg and cmbosiuV contains imitations cf Maori carving and of notable flowers and foliage, including the and the native e'ematis. The totnl weight of the epergns is 400 ounces, its length cf base being 42 inches, and the heigh*, of the middle stand beirg 36 inches. Sir Wm. returned thanks in a brief but happy j-petch.
