Oommonweiltl's agreement wi'h th« Eartern Extension Cable Company, which he says is inimical to the Pacific Cable. Mr Seddon urges the Federal Government; not to into 'ha agreement, and contends tbat the contemplated change s'nould not be made without the consent of the contracting parties to the Pacific agreemont. The Times' Ottawa correspondent, commenting on Mr Toz=r, AgentGeneral for Queensland, and others in the Times, attributes the difficulty of the Eastern Extension Cable to New South Wales, and inherited by the Commonweal h. One solution (if New Sourh Wales is able to urge the Commonwealth to offer, and if Oiuada and the other partners \«ili accept) would b3 to extend the principles of State ownership to the cables across tbe Icdian and Atlantic Oceans.
