* OsWedtesday evenirg, June 17, the - members cf the Moturoa Ledge visited Inglewocd for the purpose of aeehting the Grand Lodge officers to open a branch of the United Drder r to be known as the Ingiewood Lodge No. 31, Grand Secretary Bro. J. Macksy presided, and wsb assisted by P.D.G.R. Bro. W.T. Jennings, Grand Treaeurer Bro. J. Grant, Grand Guardian Bro. t H. J. Gilbert, District President Bro. Esau Lee, and past and present officers | and members of the Moturoa Lodge. D.P. Bro. Esan Lee, acting A.D., then initiated 16 candidates as members of the Ledge. The clttfiontf officers was the next businrss, and resulted is follows f—Arch Druid, Bro. Harold Buiton ; P.A., Bro. T. Hammer ton j Secretary, Bro. Jb. P. Forster; Treasurer, Bro. Garcia; J.G., Bro. P»ter Burge;' A.D. Bards, Bros. Seed and Taylor; P. A. Bard?, Bros, Burgees and Stevens; OG., Bro. Holgerson. Tbe officers! were duly installed by G.S. Bro. J.! Meckay, assisted by P D.G.P. Bro. W.! T. Jennings and Grand Lodge officers. The newly-elected officers returned thanks, and all stated that they intended to work hard and make their Lodge one of the best in the district. A.D. Bro. BE. Buxton, on behalf of Ingiewood Lodge, thanked Grand Lodge officers for their assistance, and moved that a hearty vote of thanks be accorded them tor their attendance. Bro. Hackay, in replying, stated that it always gave him great pleasure to assist at the opening of new Lodges, and be could assure tbe members that they had joined one of tbe most progressive societies in New Zealand. The tree initiation and special funeral levies being special features, the latter resulting in about £75 being paid out on tbe death of a member, tbis amount being over twice as much as paid out by any other Society in New Zealand. Eight years ago the Grand Lodge started with 11 Ledges and no funds, acd tbe present position was 31 Lodges and a funeral fund of over £SOOO connected with Grand Lodgei .The Ledges at present under tbe Victorian Grand Lodge are now busy taking a ballot of their members to see if they are willing to join the District Grand Lrdge. V. A. Bro. T. Hammertoe thanked the m< m - bers and officers of the Moturoa Lodge for their attendance, and hoped they would often visit their Lodge. Bros. A.D. F. Moverley, E. Lee, and J. Harvey briefly, replied. Bio. Woodhead rendered great assis'aoce in the musical portions of the various ceremonies. Tbe membars and' visitors then adjourned to a bountiful supply of refreshments, provided by the Inglewood Lodge. A short toast list was duly honoured, and a number of brethren contributed songs, fhe gathering closed at midnight with "Auld Lane Syne." •
