PER PRESS ASSOCIATION, Ghristohuroh, June 17. At a mee'.ing of the North Canterbury branch of the Farmers' Union, Mr Laadley s'ated he had made a careful comp trieon of wages paid to farm labourers and to industrial worker?, and had foucd tbere was a heavy balance in favour of farm worker;. It was resolved that the agitation for a State Bank was not in the interests ol New Zealand, and the muter shou'd be referred to tbe Colonial Council. The Chamber of Commerce wrote stating farmers would be welcome as members. It was resolved that the ojlonial OounI cil be asked to approach the Railway I Department with a view to getting uniform classification and reduction cf ra f ea on fum produce in sacks and bales, and on faz'n meat and i's products. A. request fc the establishment of a reduced rate for single deck sheep trucks we a orderel to be Bent to the Council. It was decided to recommend the Stock Department to issue leaflets for the use of farmer?, explaining the remidi' s and appliances uteful in cue * of sudden illnesses amongst stock, and that each bracch should be asked to secure medicine for u-e cf its members.
