The Works Committee reported as follows : -That the tenders receivad for earthenware pipes be forwarded to Mr Mestayer for his recommendation ; th it Air Fulton's letter re Henui bridge be r. ferred to the Engineer to reply to ; that Dr. Whitton be informed that the Council recognise no liability for damage done to his gardens by the recent floods; that Mr JO. George be notified to enlarge the drain through s ction 252 sufficient to enable it fr> jjny the natural drainage from the ands above it; that Mr R. Biyly's letter re damage done to bl< property in V.vian street be received ; that tatter from Mr j, A. Roberts and otheis re Lemon-street and from Mr F. P. Corkill re damage at Ferndell be referred to His Worship the Mayor, Tisch, Brooking,Smishand Wood to view and report; that Messrs H. Moon and C. 0 aike be notified to luve proper flushing cisterns to W.O.'j on property occupied by them; that the Sash and Door Company be asked to contribute £25 towards the tunnel in Goveratreet; that tenders ba called for the tunnel in Gover-strtet in accordance "i h plans prepared by the Borough Euginaer; that tae question of the erection cf a fence b3tween the B yards and Messrs Okey and Rdlo's be Jefe rei until receipt of reply from the Scho )1 Commissioners ; that His Worship the Mayor and the Engineer interview the Chief Engineer of Railways re continuation of Gover-street and pio eotion if trtffs; that a permit hiving been granted to Mr. J. George by tbe InspeJtor of Buildings tbe same be confirmed ; that as recomm?nded by the Engines a movable office be erected for the Clerk of Woiks at the b jths—estimated cost £l2; that the Engineer be instructed to procure two truck loads of gravel from Sentry Hill for footpaths ; that Mr Sladdea be instructed to» prepare plans for the new intake ro id and that, on recsipsof Bi>me, tenders ba called for the work; that the plans prepared by the Borough Engineer showing the land propose 1 to bo acquired from Mr Henry King in connection with tha waterworks b3 sent to htm; that the question of lev. 1-crossings in Gill street be referred to the Borough Engineer; that repairs be executed in the lower portion of Dawson-street.

The report was adopted, and it was decided that the other tunnels be included in the work to be done.

The Reserves Committee reported, recommending : —Thit in compliance with arcqaest from tha New Plymouth Ministers Association the turn table at the Mortuary Chapel be disp ms id with and two rows of ee.its be procured.— Adopted.

The Sub Committee re Naming of I Streets reported, recommending: .That the street adjoining Mt. McOormick be named Wai Manu-street; that the street running from Down-5-stre-t to Barrett-street "through s:ctisns 505 and 528 b3 named S okestreet; that the street from Downestreet to Barrett-street through sections 500 and 526-be named West-street; that the street from Mt. Edgecombestreet to Bulteel street and from Bul-teel-street to Downe street be named Tamar-street.

After some jocular remaiks by one or two of-the Councillors the i\p >rt w.s adapted.
