SMALL BIRDS' NUISANCE.
CONOKHTKD ACTION. Per Press Association, Chbistohuboh, Jane 4. A c inference on the small birds' nuisance met here this morning, and decided to take uniform action in North Canterbury for poisoning birds and purchasing heads. It was resolved to ask the Government to include the skylark, thrash, and blackbird in the schedule of injurious birds. The Timaru Conference under the Birds Nuisance Act, affirmed the ne-ce-sity of united action, and recommended the first weeks in July, August, September, and October for B'mviltaneous poisoning; also that the Government be asked to offer a bonus of £SOO for the most effective method of dealing wih the small bird pest. Invebcaegill, June 4. At a meating of delegates from County Councils, Road Boards, and Borough Councils it was resolved to recommend the Governor to fix the firet week in July for small birds destruction, and that the general poisoning should be methodical. The conference adjourned for a week, when a motion asking the Minister for Agriculture to administer the Act and charge the local bodies pro rata will be considered.
