NO-LICENSE CONVENTION.
PIB PBBSS ASSOCIATION, Auckland, June 3. A no-license Convention, attended by over 100 delegates from all parts of the Auckland district, was held to diy. The following papers were read : —"Our Legislation Programme," by A. 8. Adams (Dunedin); " The Abolition of Barmaids," by Mi« Jessie Mackay; "One License, One Bar," by Mr Q, A. Toorne. Other papers were abo reacl and disoussed. A resolution was passed congratulating the council of U.K. Alliance on tHo celebration of its jubilee. In addition to resolutions in favour of the opinions in the pipers mentioned, the following resolutions were parsed: —"Tbat pub ic bouses and b»rs be brought under the provisions and rrstricthn of the Shop Hours Act as reg rds the weekly half holiday." " That tho hours if hotels ba 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. nmimu-n and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. minimum, the extension or curtailment of the minimum to be decided by the Licet sing Commnues."
